EWTEC 2021 will take place in the University of Plymouth City Centre Campus, with various social events taking place in the City Centre – all within walking distance of the University.

Social and technical programme
Early registration, welcome reception and regatta – Sunday 5 September 2021
Location(s): Plymouth Guildhall, The Treasury (City Centre) and Plymouth Sound
For those who arrive in Plymouth on Sunday 5 September there will be a regatta held in Plymouth Sound. More details will be available soon for those who wish to take part.
Delegates are also invited to register early in the historic Plymouth Guildhall (where the Opening Ceremony will take place on Monday 6 September) giving you the opportunity to meet other delegates and familiarise yourself with some of the conference locations. You are also invited to join a welcome reception from 8:00pm at The Treasury, located in close proximity to Plymouth Guildhall.
Cocktail reception – Monday 6 September 2021
Join us for a cocktail reception in Plymouth’s newly renovated museum, gallery and archive, The Box. Network with other attendees whilst exploring national collections, over two million artefacts, archives, film, photographs, figureheads, the Mayflower and a mammoth.
Taste of the West – Tuesday 7 September 2021
Sample some of the finest produce the South West of England has to offer, as you follow a food and drink trail whilst having a dedicated opportunity to view the poster submissions. Following this session, you will be encouraged to explore Plymouth, with several local restaurants offering deals for conference attendees so you can sample more of the local cuisine.
Gala dinner – Wednesday 8 September 2021
The social for Wednesday evening is the conference Gala Dinner. The dinner we will be held in Plymouth Pavilions and promises great food, music and entertainment. More details will be released closer to the conference.
Technical visit: University of Plymouth COAST Lab – Thursday 9 September
The Coastal, Ocean and Sediment Transport (COAST) laboratory, housed in the Marine Building at the University of Plymouth is a world class facility. It provides physical model testing with combined waves, currents and wind, offered at scales appropriate for device testing, array testing, environmental modelling and coastal engineering. This is a flexible facility with the capability to generate short and long-crested waves in combination with currents at any relative direction, sediment dynamics, tidal effects and wind.

Additional social event: Eden Project trip – Friday 10 September
As an additional social event, there will be a chance to visit the world famous Eden Project in Cornwall. The Eden Project is nestled in a huge crater (a disused china clay pit) with massive Biomes housing the largest rainforest in captivity, stunning plants, and exhibitions. Building the Biomes used 230 miles of scaffolding and earned Eden an entry into the Guinness Book of Records.
Delegates will be charged an additional free for this event if they wish to take part, which will include admission and transport from/to the University of Plymouth/Eden. Further details will be released to registered attendees in due course.
